Lanes Close as County Replaces Reflective Pavement Markers
You know those reflectors on county roads that help you find the center line when it’s dark and difficult to see?
Well, it’s time to replace those — on 12 miles of county highways. And yes, that means some lanes will be closed while the work is going on this month.
The annual Kane County Recessed Reflective Pavement Marker Program work begins this week and actually started Monday (Nov. 14, 2016). The work shall include installation of recessed reflective pavement markers onto 12 miles of county highways as indicated on the attached map. The pavement marker project will improve the visibility of the lane markings for the motoring public.
The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of November. The locations are as follows:
Temporary daily lane closures will be required Monday through Friday to accomplish this work. Motorist need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution and be extra alert. Motorist must watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Motorists may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
A reminder – it is illegal for drivers to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
