(UPDATE) Nov. 8 National and State Election Results: Clinton Wins Kane, But Trump Wins Presidential Race

As Kane County goes, so doesn’t go the nation.

Kane County and state of Illinois voters supported Hillary Clinton’s bid for the U.S. presidency, but nationwide Donald Trump was announced the winner shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Here are unofficial results of national and state races for the Nov. 8 2016, General Election, with 228 of 228 precincts reporting on the Kane County Clerk’s Office website and 73 of 73 precincts reporting on the  Aurora Election Commission results page.

Federal Races

For President and Vice President of the United States

Shortly before 8 p.m., ABC news reported that Clinton won Illinois. She took Kane County handily. But as of 2 a.m. Wednesday, Donald Trump was making his victory speech. Trump won in both the popular vote and the Electoral College.

  • Hillary Rodham Clinton Timothy Michael Kaine (Democratic) — 80,981 (Kane) + 25,111 (Aurora) = 106,092
  • Donald J. Trump Michael R. Pence (Republican) — 74,296 + 9,964 = 84,260
  • Gary Johnson Bill Weld (Libertarian) — 7,995 + 1,461 = 9,456

For U.S. Senator

ABC news reported Tammy Duckworth as the winner before 8  p.m., as well. Duckworth has made her victory speech, defeating incumbent Mark Kirk 64 percent to 31 percent.

Kane County Board member Cristina Castro won her bid to become state senator of the 22nd District. The Tribune had the total margin as 38,993 for Castro and 21,699 for Smodilla.

Jim Oberweis defeated Corinne Pierog 53,524 to 43,671, according to the Tribune results site.

Dan McConnchie won overall, with 62,737 votes. Kelly Mazeski tallied 43,048, according to the Tribune.
