Chances are you’ve seen a countless number of photos from friends and family this holiday season as they’ve been recapping their year to you.

But we doubt you’ve seen very many as good as those presented by Kane County high school students last week.

More than 100 parents, students, educators, legislators and community members braved the cold to see the Regional Office of Education’s Third Annual High School Photography Exhibition held Thursday (Dec. 15, 2016) at Water Street Studios in Batavia.

“Participation in the ROE’s photo contest is continuing to grow, with more students and local schools participating each year,” said Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo. “We’re very fortunate to be able to celebrate the fine arts in Kane County and could not have done this without the time and coordination of our high school photography teachers.”

The space was generously donated by Batavia Enterprises, with Batavia High School providing catering and a string trio for the event.

Of the 508 photos submitted, 90 were on display and 12 Kane County High Schools were represented:

• Batavia High School
• Bartlett High School
• Burlington-Central High School
• Dundee-Crown High School
• Geneva Community High School
• Hampshire High School
• Harvest Christian Academy
• Kaneland High School
• St. Charles North High School
• St. Edward Central Catholic High School
• West Aurora High School
