UPDATE: East Aurora, U-46 Schools Closed Monday, Dec. 19
UPDATED 8AM MONDAY
Due to extreme cold, all East Aurora School District 131 and U-46 schools will be closed on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016.
For East Aurora District 131, all after-school activities are also cancelled for Monday, as well, East School District’s website said Sunday night.
School is closed for students, teachers, and other non-12-month employees. Administrators and other 12-month employees should report to work.
All U-46 schools are closed Monday, as well. What you need to know is this:
- All U-46 schools are closed.
- All before and after-school activities have been canceled.
- All SAFE programs are closed.
As of 8 a.m. Monday, no other Kane County public school district had issued a website announcement regarding school closings.
Many of the districts already are on winter break, including School District 300, Central School District 301, Kaneland School District 302, St. Charles School District 303 and Geneva School District 304.

The National Weather Service Chicago has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Kane County and the surrounding area through 10 a.m. Monday.
“Dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills are expected Monday morning, with wind chill readings 20 below to 30 below zero with locally colder wind chill readings Monday morning,” the NWS said.
