Driver Dies in Fiery, Single-Vehicle Crash in Algonquin

A driver was killed in an early-morning, single-vehicle crash Wednesday in Algonquin.

According to an e-blast from the Algonquin Police Department, units responded at around 1:39 a.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017) to a report of a single-vehicle crash on West Algonquin Road, just west of Berg Street.

The initial investigation indicates that a Dodge Charger traveling west on West Algonquin Road traveled off of the roadway and struck a utility pole located on the north side of the road.

Responding Algonquin units found the involved vehicle to be on fire and fully engulfed in flames. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision and/or vehicle fire.

The crash remains under investigation by the Algonquin Police Department. The name of the driver is being withheld at this time, pending positive identification and proper notification of the family.
