Flood Advisory For the Fox River Affects Kane County
The National Weather Service Chicago has issued a Flood Advisory for the Fox River at Montgomery, affecting Kane and Kendall counties.
The notice was sent at around 10:48 a.m. today (Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017).
“Recent heavy rains as well as forecast rains of up to three-quarters of an inch in the next 24 hours will cause rises along the Du Page and Fox rivers,” the NWS said.
According to the NWS-C, the river will rise to near 12.6 feet by Saturday afternoon. When the river level reaches 13 feet, minor lowland flooding begins near the river.
Among the impacts are flooded roadways. “If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around and find an alternate route,” the advisory says.
