How Kane County Manufacturers Can Get $770,000 in New Business
Up to eight Kane County manufacturing businesses will be offered a rare opportunity to take part in a government-subsidized program that, on average, generates $770,000 in new export sales for each participating company.
Metro Chicago Exports is partnering with Kane County government to introduce the ExporTechTM program, an innovative, customized workshop that provides an individual coach for each company, leading to an export plan in nine weeks.
Jointly offered nationwide by the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership program and the U.S. Export Assistance Centers of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the three-day program — called a “cohort” — is coming to Kane County for the first time.
And Kane County has arranged a special deal.
Kane County manufacturers will receive a reduced rate compared to other ExporTechTM cohorts. The standard cost is $5,000 per company; Kane County businesses will pay $3,000 for the 2017 “winter cohort,” which is scheduled to take place during single days in April, May and June.
In addition to generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in new revenue, the program promises to help businesses save countless hours in legwork, eliminate fears about getting paid, protect intellectual property, find sales reps and more.
How it Works
ExporTechTM is execution driven, with a team of partners who make it easier to go to market and implement a plan. It uses a peer group model, limited to leaders from up to eight Kane County companies, that provides customized workshops that avoid “death by PowerPoint” and allow companies to extract the specific information they need.
ExporTechTM amplifies the impact of other export programs, helping companies get the most out of trade shows, Gold Key services, country visits and trade missions. It provides a structured export strategy and business development process that accelerates growth, and it is the only national program that helps each company develop an export plan.
Kane County companies that would benefit most from ExporTechTM are:
- Manufacturers that have received inquiries about exporting, but do not include it in their business plan.
- Companies looking to create a holistic, strategic plan for exporting.
- Manufacturers who want to export and are unsure of where to begin.
- Experienced exporting manufacturers looking to target new markets.
- Businesses that are looking for personalized exporting assistance.
- Manufacturers looking for resources and technical assistance for exports.
Space is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Each participating company may bring up to three executives for the three-day program.
The session dates for the three-day Winter 2017 cohort are subject to change, but tentatively scheduled to take place March 1, April 4, and May 2 at a venue to be named later.
