Algonquin
Groot will collect Christmas trees at no charge on your normal collection day throughout the month of January.
In order for a tree to be collected, it must be placed at the curb or the edge of the road by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. All lights and decorations must be removed. Trees should not be placed in plastic bags, and any trees over 6 feet tall should be cut in half so one person can handle them. Also, trees should be placed on top of the snow. Trees buried under snow could result in Groot not collecting them.
Aurora
Beginning next week, Christmas trees will be picked up for free during weekly trash and recycling collection.
For two weeks, from Monday, Jan. 9 through Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, no sticker is required for collection.
To be properly recycled, trees must be free of plastic bags, all decorations (including tinsel) and tree stands, and be placed at the curb on your normal collection day. Please note that due to the wire used to form them, wreaths and garlands will not be collected as recycling and must be stickered as trash.
After Friday, Jan. 20, trees left at the curb must be stickered in order to be collected.
Aurora Township
The Aurora Township Highway Department will collect Christmas trees and wreaths for unincorporated Aurora Township residents only. The undecorated tree and wreath pick up will begin on Jan. 3, 2017. (Weather permitting.) No bags or plastic of any kind and please put the cut end toward the street.
Additionally, the ATHD will accept Christmas tree and wreath drop offs (no bags or plastic) from any Aurora Township resident at our facility at 220 Butterfield Road. The drop off times are 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays between Jan. 3 and Jan.10, 2017.

Batavia
As part of the City of Batavia’s refuse contract, Advanced Disposal will be picking up live Christmas trees on residents’ regular collection dates. Residents do not have to use a sticker for Christmas tree removal on these dates only. After these dates, residents should attach a refuse sticker to the tree and place it at the curb on their regular collection date. All materials such as plastic bags, ornaments, lights and nails should be removed from the trees. Live wreaths and garland should be placed in your regular refuse.
Please use the following schedule:
South Side (Wilson to the south):
- Thursday, Jan. 5
- Wednesday, Jan. 11
North Side (north of Wilson):
- Friday, Jan. 6
- Thursday, Jan. 12
Far West Side (Randall to the west):
- Saturday, Jan. 7
- Friday, Jan. 13
Campton Township
Christmas tree collection will run for two weeks starting the last week of December. All trees picked up during this time will be recycled and composted by the waste hauler. Residents will not need to affix a yard waste sticker to the trees during this time. Christmas trees must be free of all decorations and cannot be in plastic bags. If tree is longer than 6 feet, it must be cut in half.
Dundee Township
Curbside Christmas tree collections are scheduled for Saturday, Jan 7, and Friday, Jan, 13, 2017, along with regular refuse collection as provided by the village.
Trees need to be stripped of all decorations and placed at the curb with the cut end facing the street. Trees do not have to be cut up, bundled or placed in yard waste bags. Trees in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic will not be accepted. Trees or greenery covered with artificial snow cannot be accepted.
Garlands and wreaths must be disassembled. The organic portion should be placed in a yard waste bag while the rest is discarded as refuse.
If you live in a building with more than three units, contact your building owner or refuse hauler regarding Christmas tree disposal, or recycle it with the Dundee Township Highway Commission.
To recycle your Christmas Tree, remove all decorations and bring it to the Dundee Township Garage at 1900 Sleepy Hollow Road (at Route 72) until Jan. 15. Call Highway Commissioner Larry Braasch at 847-426-0898 for more information.
East Dundee
Holiday greenery must have all tinsel, ornaments, lights and nails removed before being placed out at the curb for pick-up and cannot be placed in plastic bags. Holiday greenery collection is FREE the FIRST TWO WEEKS in January.
Elburn
Christmas Trees will be collected from Christmas through the end of January at no additional charge if left at the curb. All ornaments, tinsel, and lights must be removed prior to disposal.
Elgin
Christmas Trees will be collected Dec. 26, 2016, through Jan. 13, 2017, from all residential households. Stickers are not required for Christmas trees during this period.
All decorations, stands, etc. must be removed from trees in order to be collected. Do not place trees in plastic bags. Trees in plastic bags will not be collected. After Jan. 16, each Christmas tree will require one visibly affixed refuse sticker to be collected.
Yard waste collection services (except Christmas trees), are not provided to condominium and townhome units.
Geneva
Geneva residents will have two opportunities to dispose of their live Christmas trees for free during January.
Trees will be picked up on residents’ normal garbage collection day the weeks of Jan. 9 and Jan. 16 by Advanced Disposal, the city’s waste hauler. People must place their live tree at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day.
No refuse stickers will be required for this service.
Ornaments, hooks, nails, tinsel, garland, tree stands and other hard materials should be removed from the trees prior to disposal. Trees placed in bags at the curb will not be accepted.
All wreaths and roping must be discarded with the regular trash.

Huntley
Huntley Park District Recycling Program invites you to bring your tree to Sun Valley Farm at Betsey Warrington Park, free of tinsel and decorations by Jan. 31 or the park district also provides curb-side pick-up of trees, free of tinsel and decorations. This service is available Jan. 1-15. These trees will be used as mulch in the parks. There is no cost for this service and is available to residents within Huntley village limits. Gilberts
MDC will be picking up live Christmas trees left at the curb beginning on Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 and continuing through the month of January on your regularly scheduled garbage pick up days.
Maple Park
Christmas trees will be picked up on the resident’s service day beginning after Dec. 25. Pickup will continue through the month of January.
Trees must be free of all decorations. Trees must not be in plastic bags.

Mill Creek
Advanced Disposal shall pickup discarded Christmas trees free of charge for the first two full weeks of January. Trees should be placed on the curb free of all lights, garland, tinsel and decorations in order to be composted.
Montgomery
Live Christmas trees will be picked up on the regular pickup day during the first two weeks in January each year. In January 2017, the collection will start Tuesday, Jan. 2, and end on Thursday, Jan. 12.
North Aurora
Christmas trees will be collected through January at no charge to residents. During this free period the Christmas trees must be free of all decorations and cannot be in plastic bags. Christmas trees over 6 feet tall need to be cut in half. After the free collection period has expired, Christmas trees will require one trash sticker visibly affixed in order to be collected.
South Elgin
As a service to residents Allied Waste/Republic Services will pick up Christmas trees beginning Jan. 4 through Jan, 19, 2017, on normally scheduled refuse days. All decorations should be removed before placing the tree at curbside.
St. Charles
Trees will be picked up during the weeks of Jan. 2 and Jan. 9, 2017. This will be done on both sides of the river on the regular scheduled refuse day. Trees collected during this two-week time period do not require a refuse sticker. Trees cannot be bagged and must have all ornaments, tinsel, lights and decorations removed from them.
Trees collected after the two-week period must have a refuse sticker. Wreaths and garland will not be picked up and cannot be accepted due to the wire in them.
Pingree Grove
From the Flood Brothers website: All holiday greenery, including Christmas trees, decorative holiday wreaths and boughs, must have tinsel, ornaments and lights removed from them before being placed at the curb for pickup. Holiday greenery will be picked up and disposed of as general refuse with the regular garbage. Compost facilities are closed during the winter months; hence disposal of holiday greenery as general refuse is the only disposal option available for Flood Brothers.
Sugar Grove
Christmas Trees will be picked up in the month of January through Tuesday, Jan. 31. All decorations including tinsel and the stand must be removed.
West Dundee
Please note that curbside Christmas tree collections will occur on Saturday, Jan. 7, and Friday, Jan. 13 ONLY in 2017.
