An investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration has resulted in charges against a 55-year-old St. Charles man for delivery and possession of heroin.

Johnny Williams, of the 1200 block of Indiana Street in St. Charles, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of heroin and possession of prescription pills. The charges were authorized by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, Kane County deputies observed what appeared to be a drug transaction at around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in a parking lot in the 1500 block of East Main Street in St. Charles.

A search of Williams’ vehicle led to the discovery of a small amount of a white powder which later field tested positive for heroin. Williams, was taken into custody, and a search of his residence led to the discovery of 16 bags of suspected heroin, more than $4,000 in cash and several prescription pills.

Williams was on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections at the time of this arrest, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The charges against Williams are not proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
