According to the Kane County Clerk’s Office election website, nine referendums are now set for the April 4 ballot.

• The Forest Preserve District of Kane County will ask voters to OK issuing $50 million in general obligation bonds for the purposes of purchasing land for open space and making improvements on forest preserves.
• The Geneva Library District is asking voters to OK a $21.8 million referendum to build a new library on Sixth Street.
• The village of Wayne is asking the public question: Shall Elgin School District U-46 be required to seek voter approval by referendum prior to increasing its annual total property tax levy? The village of Wayne is primarily in DuPage County but has some footprint in Kane County.
• Elgin Township is holding a referendum calling for a new tax rate under the property extension limitation law.

Five referendums involve fire protection districts in Kane County.

Pingree Grove & Countryside is seeking $8.5 million in general obligation bonds to build and equip two new fire stations. Hampshire and Burlington fire districts are seeking a new tax rate for tort liability fund purposes. The Hampshire fire district is also seeking a new tax rate for Emergency and Rescue Fund purposes.

Finally, the Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District is asking to raise the tax-cap limit by 5 percent or by calculation involving the Consumer Price Index, whichever is less.

Forest Preserve District of Kane County

PROPOSITION TO ISSUE $50,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT OF KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS

Shall the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois, borrow money and issue general obligation bonds in the amount of $50,000,000 to acquire and preserve forests and natural lands, protect wildlife habitats, enhance flood control, improve hiking and biking trails and fishing and other recreational areas, provide forest and wildlife education programs and improve forest preserves, wetlands and prairies, all in accordance with the purposes authorized by the Downstate Forest Preserve District Act of the State of Illinois, as amended?|The approximate impact of the proposed increase on the owner of a single-family home having a market value of $250,000 would be $22 in the first year of the increase if the increase is fully implemented.

Geneva Library District

PROPOSITION TO ISSUE $21,800,000 LIBRARY BONDS

Shall the bonds of the Geneva Public Library District, Kane County, Illinois, in the amount of $21,800,000 be issued for the purpose of erecting a building to be used as a library on District owned property, improving said property, including parking, and furnishing necessary equipment for said library building?
