Countdown to Earth Day Tip #15 — Join the Fun

The best way to go green in Kane County is to get involved.

Make a vow to volunteer for some kind of program or event this spring that helps preserve and protect our natural resources. Visit the Volunteer Opportunities page from the Chicagoland Environmental Network to find local organizations that need a helping hand.

Or, consider volunteering with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County where you can “Be Inspired to Inspire Others” by participating in one of the Restoration Workdays or another special event, like Tree Planting on Earth Day.

Maybe you’d like to focus your efforts on the Fox River?  The Friends of the Fox River have several volunteer river cleanups on their calendar this spring, including the North Elgin Fox River Cleanup on April 22 and the Batavia River Cleanup on May 20.

Lending a hand for the planet doesn’t have to involve picking up trash or getting muddy … but that can certainly be part of the fun! Decide where your skills and talents could best be of use, and find the right eco-volunteering opportunity for yourself today.
