Cubs World Series Trophy Comes to Aurora on April 3
In what appears to be the last stop prior to opening day, the Chicago Cubs’ World Series Trophy is coming to Kane County!
The free event is open to the public but lasts just one hour, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m Monday, April 3, at the Paramount Theatre’s Grand Gallery, 23 E. Galena Boulevard, Aurora.

“It is an honor to host the 2016 World Series Trophy in Aurora, especially on the official Opening Day of the 2017 Major League Baseball season,” said Aurora Mayor Robert J. O’Connor.
The first 500 fans in line will receive wristbands and are guaranteed an opportunity to view and take a photo with the trophy. Due to time limitations, anyone without a wristband is not guaranteed admittance. The trophy must leave promptly at 2 p.m.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on the morning of the event, fans can line up outside of the Paramount Theatre. Staff and signage will direct visitors to the starting point of the line. Sleeping overnight at the location will not be allowed and anyone arriving prior to 7 a.m. will be asked to move out of line.
Parking is available in the Stolp Avenue Parking Deck on the corner of Downer Place and Stolp Avenue and at public parking lots throughout downtown Aurora. For more information on downtown parking visit this page of the Aurora Downtown website.

According to the Cubs’ Trophy Tour web page, the “schedule is subject to change.”
That said, the showcasing very well could be the last stop on the tour prior to returning to the friendly confines. The Cubs home opener is set for Monday, April 10. The Trophy Tour finale — at least, the last trophy appearance mentioned on the web page — is Wednesday, April 19, at the “Chicago Cubs Bricks & Ivy Ball,” but the location is to be determined.
The Cubs, of course, won the World Series by a score of 8-7 in the 10th inning of the seventh game on Nov. 2, 2016, bringing home the team’s first World Series Trophy since 1908. Three former Kane County Cougars — Kyle Schwarber, Wilson Contreras and Albert Almora Jr. — contributed mightily to that seventh-game victory.
Isn’t it fitting that it should come to Kane County and the City of Lights?
About the World Series Trophy
The World Series Trophy, also known as the Commissioner’s Trophy, was originally created by Major League Baseball in 1967.- In 2000, Major League Baseball commissioned Tiffany & Co. to redesign the trophy.
- The 24-inch trophy features 30 flags, one for each MLB team, with latitude/longitude lines symbolizing the world, and 24-karat vermeil stitches representing those on a baseball.
- Sterling silver trophy weighs approximately 20 pounds and stands 24 inches high with a diameter of 11 inches.
- Etched on the base are the words, “Presented by the Commissioner of Baseball,” along with the signature of Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred Jr.
- Master artisans employ age-old techniques — spinning, silversmithing, chasing, hand engraving, and polishing — to create the trophy.
- Each year, one full-sized trophy is constructed and presented to the winner of the World Series by the baseball commissioner.
