UPDATE: Drivers, Bicyclists Should Avoid Silver Glen Road Over Otter Creek March 6-8
- Editor’s note: An earlier version of this post said the pavement core work would take place from March 1 to March 6. The work is now scheduled for March 6 to March 8, weather permitting.
The Kane County Division of Transportation is advising drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to avoid traveling over the Otter Creek Bridge on Silver Glen Road from March 6 to March 8.
According to a KDOT news release, work starts Monday, March 6, 2017, and will continue through Wednesday, March 8, 2017, while cores are being taken in advance of bridge replacement improvements that will occur several years in the future.
Pavement cores will be taken near the Silver Glen Road over Otter Creek bridge, including the multi-use bike/pedestrian bridge, located about 0.75 miles west of Randall Road. During this work, there may be temporary single-lane closures with flaggers directing traffic.
Construction work hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“All bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the use of the area during this time for the safety of both the workers and the residents,” the KDOT news release said.
Silver Glen Road will remain open during treatment, but because temporary daily lane closures are likely, motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution and be extra alert. Motorists must watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.
KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
Questions and concerns may be directed to Candi Thomas (630) 406-7355. For all Kane County traffic advisories, see this page of the KDOT website.
