Fast Facts: How Much Snow Did We Get?

How much snow did we get in Kane County, IL, as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 14?

Batavia scored 1.6 inches, but it was an inch or less for most Kane County communities in the past 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service Chicago. Here’s an NWS-C interactive map that shows some of the snow totals.

That’s a lot less than some of our neighbors, which were hit hard by lake effect snow. Buffalo Grove got 9 inches. Mundelein got 8.9 inches and Waukegan collected 8.8 inches. Farther north, Racine, WI, got 14.9 inches, according to one NWS-C report.

  • Other snowfall amounts include 2.9 inches at the NWS Chicago in Romeoville with a storm total of 4.1 inches.
  • The COOP observer located 3 miles southwest of Chicago Midway International Airport, the 24 hour snowfall was 4.4 inches, and the storm total is 7.9 inches.
