The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking youth interested in learning about the law while receiving community service hours.

Youth ages 14 to 18 are eligible to participate in the program, but participation is limited to 50 students for the very popular immersive experience in law procedures and practices.

Youth will tour the Aurora Police Department, see evidence processing, participate in mock traffic stops, and become familiar with procedures and best practices of SWAT, Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI and police. Participants will have an opportunity to meet with Kane County prosecutors, judges and elected officials.

The program takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from June 19 to Aug. 2, 2017, at the Aurora Police Department, 1200 E. Indian Trail Road.

A parent and youth orientation will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, at the Aurora Police Department Community Room.

Upon completing the program, outh and parents will be invited to a picnic on Wednesday, Aug. 2, and a graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, Aug. 3.
