Let’s Get Ready to Resurface! KDOT Road Program Set to Kick Off April 3
Get ready to resurface, Kane County!
As rallying cries go, it’s not “Let’s get ready to to rumble!” but it’s a pretty clear announcement of a series of roadwork projects that (a) improves your driving experience in the longrun and (b) sometimes annoys you in the short run because it usually goes with some lane closures.
Work on the annual county resurfacing program is scheduled to begin the week of Monday, April 3, 2017, weather permitting. The program will consist of paving and/or guardrail work on portions of five roads as listed below.
In order to replace the old pavement, the contractor will first mill and prepare the roadway involving temporary daily lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. This work is anticipated to take approximately five months to complete, weather permitting.
Listed below are the portions of roads to be resurfaced and/or have guardrail replaced this year.

The resurfacing process is part of our annual maintenance to increase the longevity of county roads. Guardrails along Scott Road, Fabyan Parkway and Hughes Road will be replaced to meet the current IDOT safety requirements.
The above-mentioned roads will remain open during construction but will be reduced to one lane of travel using temporary daily lane closures and flaggers. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas and may want to add additional time to their commutes.
Motorists must reduce their speed, watch for construction workers and vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. Please consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
A reminder: It is illegal for drivers to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
