Mark Your Calendars! GreenTown Returns to the Fox Valley

The Fox Valley Sustainability Network will host GreenTown — a full-day conference that brings public and private sectors together to build stronger, more sustainable communities — on Thursday, April 27, in downtown Aurora.

Since 2007, GreenTown events have taken place throughout the upper Midwest. The April 27 event marks the third time that GreenTown will make its way to Kane County, after previous conferences were held in Elgin in 2011 and Aurora in 2015.

County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen (yellow tie) attends GreenTown 2013 in Naperville.

This year’s event will feature a mayors breakfast, a keynote address, and breakout sessions focused on seven topic areas:

  • Economic Development
  • Energy
  • Green Infrastructure
  • Local Food
  • Transportation
  • Waste
  • Water

Who Should Attend GreenTown?

The conference is designed to bring current sustainability-related information to elected officials, city managers, public works directors, park district directors, planners, developers, builders, architects, landscape architects, engineers, school leaders, teachers, healthcare professionals, environmental advocates – and many others interested in working together to build a more sustainable Fox Valley region.

  • Date: Thursday, April 27, 2017
  • Location: Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N Broadway, Aurora, IL
  • Registration: Opens on April 3.
  • More information and online registration: Will be available at www.foxvalleysustainabilitynetwork.com.

About GreenTown

GreenTown: The Future of Community is designed to help create sustainable communities.

Since 2007, mayors and other elected officials, city managers, public works directors, park district directors, planners, developers, builders, architects, landscape architects, engineers, school leaders, teachers, healthcare professionals, environmental advocates – and many others interested in sustainable development – have gathered to hear inspiring speakers, learn from been-there case studies, and discuss actionable steps to make communities – and people and planet – healthier. At GreenTown, people learn, network, and act.

GreenTown is co-produced by a5 Inc., a Chicago-based marketing and communications firm, and Seven Generations Ahead, a non-profit organization whose mission is to build healthy, sustainable communities.
