Sad Week in St. Charles: 2 Teens Found Dead in Parked Vehicle

It’s been a sad, unusual and difficult week for residents and emergency personnel in the city of St. Charles.
A week ago, police responded to reports of a domestic shooting incident at a downtown apartment and found three persons dead and one injured. As a visitation takes place today (Friday, March 17, 2017) at Christ Community Church for Tiffany and Brittany Coffland, the twin 16-year-old girls reportedly shot and killed by their father, Randall Coffland, comes word from the St. Charles Police Department and Kane County Coroner’s Office of another loss of life.
On Thursday (March 16, 2017), police found two young people — a male and a female — deceased in the back seat of a car parked in a parking lot on the west side of the 0-99 block of N. 17th St.
The Coroner’s Office today identified the deceased as Kody Dietrich, 18, of St. Charles and Adalina Donoso, 18, of Racine, WI.
Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab, and an autopsy was performed at the Kane County Morgue, according to a Coroner’s Office news release. There were no signs of trauma or obvious foul play, and the cause and manner of death is pending the results of the toxicological samples.
According to a city of St. Charles news release, at around 8:08 a.m. Thursday, St. Charles police and Fire Department personnel responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot, where officers found two people in the back seat of the car, unresponsive.
Officers and Fire Department personnel began life-saving measures, and the two occupants were transported to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
The Police Department is continuing a death investigation at this time.
