Share your Big Idea For a More Sustainable Fox Valley

Calling all problem-solvers and entrepreneurial minds!

You are invited to take part in the Fox Valley Sustainability Network’s “Idea Factory” challenge. It’s like an episode of Shark Tank, but for environmentalists — and we want to hear your BIG ideas for making the Fox Valley a more sustainable region!

GreenTown Fox Valley is coming to Two Brothers Roundhouse on April 27, 2017, and will feature inspiring keynote speakers, sustainability-themed breakout sessions, and a chance to get involved in working on projects generated by the Fox Valley Sustainability Network.

An additional feature of this year’s event will be a 30-minute Idea Factory” that will provide selected participants the opportunity to make a concise two-minute pitch about a project idea (with a maximum of two accompanying PowerPoint slides) that will significantly move the needle in making the Fox Valley more sustainable in relation to one or more of seven main topic categories: WATER, ENERGY, TRANSPORTATION, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, WASTE, FOOD, and GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE.

The big idea must be a fundable project that could be implemented over the next 24 months in the Fox Valley region.

A panelist of judges from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and the Fox Valley Sustainability Network will select the participants. Participants may have the opportunity to apply for funding for capital projects in the future through the Community Foundation’s spring and fall Grantmaking Program.

What: Provide an overview of your proposed project idea – including why it is important, how it will significantly impact sustainability in the Fox Valley, and key implementation steps.

When: Submissions are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017. Selected participants will be notified on April 11, 2017.

Where: Submit project ideas online here.
