Two cars traveling in opposite directions collided Monday morning on Ashe Road in unincorporated Sugar Grove, causing one of the vehicles to catch fire, but miraculously, both drivers sustained non-life threatening injuries.
According to a Kane County Sheriff’s Office report, a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Daniel Scott, 22, of Plano was traveling north on Ashe Road about a mile north of Baseline Road and passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone when it struck a southbound Chevy Cruze driven by Michael Frantzen, 54, of Hinckley.
After the crash, the Pontiac Grand Prix caught on fire, reports said.
The drivers, who were the sole occupants of their vehicles, were transported from the scene to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
