Sugar Grove Chamber Hosts March 14 ‘Meet the Candidates Night’
The Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce will give local residents a chance to meet candidates in the hyper-local April 4 consolidated elections during a “Meet the Candidates Night” set for March 14 at the Sugar Grove Public Library, 125 S. Municipal Drive, Sugar Grove.
The candidates night is sponsored by the Sugar Grove Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Sugar Grove Herald and the law office of White & Ekker, P.C.
All members of the community are invited to the non-partisan, non-sectional and non-sectarian event that has been sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce for more than 20 years. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the event will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The free forum provides all candidates in the April 4 Consolidated Election with the opportunity to introduce themselves to those in attendance. This includes candidates for:
- Sugar Grove Fire Protection District
- Sugar Grove Park District
- Sugar Grove Public Library District
- Sugar Grove Township supervisor
- Sugar Grove Township clerk
- Sugar Grove Township assessor
- Sugar Grove Township highway commissioner
- Sugar Grove Township trustee
- Sugar Grove Township community building manager
- village of Sugar Grove President, Village of Sugar Grove trustee
- Kaneland School District 302 Member of Board of Education
- Waubonsee Community College 516 trustee
In the contested races, candidates for Sugar Grove Township assessor, village of Sugar Grove trustee, and Kaneland School District 302 Board of Education positions will also participate in a special question-and-answer forum run by a moderator.
Before the event, community members are encouraged to submit questions for the candidates that may be used during the Q&A, with the understanding that time for questions will be limited. Please submit questions to the Sugar Grove Chamber via email to info@sugargrovechamber.org by March 9, 2017.
This event is being held during the early stages of early voting so that everyone will have the opportunity to hear from candidates before casting ballots if they would like. The early voting runs March 10 through April 3, with April 4 being Election Day.
