$1.286 Billion to Be Collected in Kane County Property Taxes This Year

The number alone kind of blows your mind: $1.286 billion.
That’s the amount of real estate taxes that will be collected in Kane County this year on 193,692 parcels of property.
One small piece of good news in this year’s “relevant tax statistics” is that the “average bill” in Kane County went up by about 1 percentage point, according to the following chart provided by the Kane County Treasurer’s Office.
The average bill for taxes payable in 2017 is $6,642.96 — about $68.52 higher than the average bill payable in 2016.
Relevant Tax Statistics
The number of parcels in Kane County went up by 644 — generally more good news for the “average” taxpayer because a higher number of parcels means the tax burden is more spread out.
Of that $1.286 billion collected, the biggest chunk will go to local school districts. The pie chart we’re embedding below gives you a pretty good idea of the proportions.
