The bridge over the Fox River in North Aurora is open!

The village of North Aurora put out an alert today (Friday, April 7, 2017) to let drivers know that the recent detour in place over the State Street bridge in North Aurora is no longer in effect.

Traffic on the bridge had been restricted on State Street between Route 25 and Route 31 since March 28 due to Fox Metro sewer-improvement work.

Detours included westbound traffic on Butterfield Road (IL Route 56) as well as traffic on Lincolnway, which was directed south to cross the Fox River at Sullivan Road.

Village officials allowed access to residences, local businesses and emergency-response vehicles throughout the project.

Fox Metro has been rehabilitating about 1,450 linear feet of 15-inch sanitary sewer, sanitary services and manholes. The project took place in the rear yards of the homes on Grant Street between State Street and the Commonwealth Edison right of way.

The sewer rehabilitation operation is completed without excavation by using a non-dig technique and cast-in-place pipe lining.
