Elgin Man Killed in Crash on IL Route 25

A 22-year-old man who died in a two-car Saturday crash on Route 25 in Bartlett has been identified by the Kane County Coroner’s Office as s Oscar Soto Gallardo of Elgin.

According to a Coroner’s Office news release, the office was notified by the Bartlett Police Department at around 7:05 a.m. Saturday, April 1, of a two-car crash in the area of 7N657 IL Route 25.

According to a news release, Soto Gallardo was driving a 2002 Hyundai Sonata south on Route 25 when his vehicle crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a northbound 2015 Nissan Altima.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin with non-life threatening injuries, the release said.

The Coroner’s Office said the preliminary cause of death was “Blunt Force Trauma due to a Motor Vehicle versus Motor Vehicle Mishap.” Toxicology samples were collected and sent to a forensic lab.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office is cooperating with the Bartlett Police Department in their ongoing investigation of this incident.
