Randall Road Crash Takes Life of Teen

At around 7:27 p.m. Sunday, May 13, 2017, Elgin Police Department and Fire Department personnel responded to an area near the intersection of Randall Road and South Street for a serious traffic crash involving three vehicles.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Altima driven by Patryck Stanley, a 17-year-old male from Hampshire, was traveling north on Randall Road and crossed over the center line, striking a Pontiac traveling south on Randall Road. The driver of the Pontiac, a 21-year-old male from Geneva, was uninjured.

The Nissan then continued north in the southbound lanes of Randall Road, where it struck a Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 30-year-old female from Elgin. The driver of the Dodge and her 67-year-old passenger were transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After striking the Dodge Caravan, the Nissan left the roadway, coming to rest on the west side of Randall Road. Stanley was transported to Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. A 15-year-old passenger from Carpentersville who was in the Nissan was transported to Sherman Hospital, where she was released with non-life threatening injuries.

Several streets in the area of the crash were closed during the crash investigation for approximately four hours. The department’s Traffic Unit and the Kane County Medical Examiner continue to investigate this crash. Anyone with information pertinent to the investigation is encouraged to call 847-289-2660.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, when toxicology samples will be collected and sent to a forensic lab.

School District 300 said on its Facebook page that Stanley was an 11th grade Hampshire High School student.

The district crisis intervention team will be present at both Hampshire middle school and Hampshire high school to help support staff and students.
