29 Projects Get County OK For $747,888 in Riverboat Funds For Nonprofits

Kane County Board Chairman Chris Lauzen and CASA Kane County Executive Director Gloria Bunce hold up a check of Grand Victoria Riverboat fund in 2015.

The Kane County Board on Tuesday (May 9, 2017) passed a resolution authorizing $747,888 in Grand Victoria Riverboat funding for 29 projects/programs sponsored by external non-profit organizations and units of local government.

All projects were reviewed and recommended by the County Board’s Riverboat Committee.

During their deliberations, the committee members considered how effectively the proposals addressed the Riverboat Program’s eligibility criteria in the areas of education, environment, and economic development, the extent to which the proposals leveraged funds from other sources, the soundness of the applicants’ project budgets as well as their readiness to proceed and complete their projects in a timely fashion, and the impact the projects will have within the community.

Grand Victoria Riverboat funding for nonprofits has been reduced in several years. The amount available in 2015 was $918,000. The Kane County Board budgeted $897,239 for the initiative in 2016.
