The Kane County Fair board of directors in St. Charles has named Kyle McCullough, Madde Klinkey and Trace Fidler as its 2017 scholarship recipients.

Each student is an active member of a local 4-H Club and will receive $750 per year for four years, or a cumulative total of $3,000, as they continue and complete their higher education.

“We are pleased to continue the tradition of awarding scholarships to worthy young students in our 4-H community,” said Larry Breon, chairman of the Kane County Fair board of directors. “It’s an honor for us to help these three outstanding students who have set high goals for their future success.”

Kyle McCullough

Kyle McCullough of St. Charles ranks in the top 10 percent  of his class at Marmion Academy in Batavia. He has been on the honor roll for four years and received the Father Joseph Battaglia Award for the highest GPA in Leadership Education and Development Program.

McCullough credits his first exposure in community service through his involvement with the A Bit More 4H Club. He has volunteered with Special Olympics, Nazareth Farm (West Virginia Mission Trip) and Feed My Starving Children. During high school he took part in Government Day and learned much from his experiences encountering with public servants, including leadership skills. He will be attending Illinois State University.

Madeline “Madde” Klinkey

Madeline “Madde” Klinkey of St. Charles is a student at St. Charles North High School. She is a member of the French National Honors Society, an AP calculous student, and a winner of the Veterans of Foreign Wars essay contest.  She is a member of the equestrian club, jazz band, marching band and Madrigal Performers Group. She has been a four year vice-president of the A Bit More 4-H Club and secretary of the Kane County Horse Committee.

She will be attending William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.

Trace Fidler

Trace Fidler of Genoa has been involved with Future Farmers of America, a member of the business leadership club, and wrestling team at Genoa-Kingston High School in Genoa. He has been involved with the Burlington Ag 4H and has proudly shown cattle and attended numerous cattle auctions.

Fidler has volunteered for The Goodfellow non profit charity of Genoa-Kingston to provide clothing to needy students. He donates time to the TAILS animal shelter, the Genoa food pantry and local roadside cleanups. Following the legacy of his family, Fidler is pursuing a future in agribusiness.

Since the launching of its Kane County Fair 4-H scholarship program more than 10 years ago, many Kane County area 4-H students have been awarded financial assistance to further their education.
