Get Great Deals With Forest Preserve District’s Online Surplus Auction!

Want a printer for $10? How about an eight-passenger van for $1,500?

Those are the present prices (as of 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017) for items on available in a surplus sale on the Forest Preserve District of Kane County website.

The Kane County Forest Preserve District has some fabulous stuff at fabulous prices, but if you want to bid for it, you’ll have to act fast.

The Public Surplus webpage is pretty cool. It will place incremental bids for you up to the maximum amount you are willing to bid using proxy bidding. Your maximum amount is only visible to you. No other bidders will know what your maximum bid is. If there is a reserve price, your bid will go to the reserve maximum and then any amount of your bid over the reserve amount, will be in a proxy bid.

You can view the bid history and ask questions from the seller after you log in.

Once you’ve won the bid, you have to pick up the item yourself. The pickup location is Forest Preserve District of Kane County, 1996 S. Kirk Road, Suite 320, Geneva, IL  60134.

Buyers Premium: A 10% Buyer Premium shall be added to the final sale price. A 6% Buyers Premium shall be added for all property sales.

All sales are final. Public Processing will notify buyer of receipt of payment via email. Buyer must remove auction item(s) from said agencies premises within 5 business days of notification by Public Surplus of receipt of payment.Items not removed within this time frame will become the property of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County unless other arrangements are made. The payment receipt must be presented at the time of pick up or the said agency will not release the item to you.

Bid Deposits: The County of Kane may require bid deposits to ensure fairness and equity to all buyers as a way to decrease default bidding.

Pick-up hours by appointment only. Successful bidder will be responsible for removal of item.

Successful bidder will be responsible for cost of packing and/or shipping of any item(s) if necessary.
