IDOT Closes IL 25 at the BNSF Tracks in Batavia for Crossing Repairs
The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that a full closure will take place on River Street (Illinois 25) at the BNSF railroad tracks, north of Banbury Road in Batavia, beginning the week of Monday, May 8. The closure is necessary to repair the at-grade railroad crossing.
Beginning May 8, River Street will be fully closed between Sullivan Road and Fabyan Parkway. A posted detour will direct northbound River Street traffic to go west on Sullivan Road, north on Lake Street (Illinois 31), and east on Fabyan Parkway to meet back with River Street. Southbound River Street traffic will take the reverse route.
The full closure will be in place until Monday, May 15, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
