AURORA MAN FACES PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING CHILD

An Aurora area man faces a minimum prison sentence of 27 years for sexually assaulting a young child he knew.

A Kane County jury today convicted Orane R. Foster of four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, each a Class X felony, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

Kane County prosecutors presented evidence that between June 2015 and August 2015 Foster sexually assaulted the victim. Foster was living in Aurora with the victim and her mother at the time of the assaults, which occurred in their residence. The victim was younger than 12 years old.

Circuit Judge James C. Hallock set Foster’s next court appearance for 1:30 p.m. July 7, 2017, for motions and sentencing. Foster faces a minimum sentence 27 years’ imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In addition to the prison term, Foster must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Foster had been free on $9,000 bond. Bond was revoked at conviction and Foster was taken into custody at the Kane County jail.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Lori Schmidt and Nydia Molina, who are assigned to the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.

“Many courageous acts led to the right outcome of this complex and emotional case. This eight-year old showed tremendous strength in speaking up to put a stop to this horrific abuse. At such an early age, she has already shown the character of a survivor. My thanks to the entire prosecution team who delivered justice for this child,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said.
