Kane County Electronics, Books Recycling Event Is Saturday, May 13
The next Kane County Recycles Event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (May 13, 2017) at the Kane County Branch Court, 540 S. Randall in St. Charles.
This is NOT a document shredding event; the next shred event is scheduled for July 8.
At this weekend’s event, you can recycle books of any age and condition and electronics such as computers, keyboards, laptops, printers, stereos, cell phones, microwaves and more for no charge.
Kane County Recycles also take televisions (any size or age) and computer monitors, but there’s a charge of $25 for screens under 21 inches (measured diagonally) and $35 for screens 21 inches and over. You can pay with cash or card at the event.
“And we do unload for you!” Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland said.
The fee that you pay for TVs and monitors goes directly to the County’s contracted electronics recycler, eWorks, a non-profit whose main mission is to employ developmentally disabled individuals. You will receive a tax-deduction receipt.
Also remember that you can use any of the electronics recycling drop offs that are open 8 hours a day Monday through Friday!
A full list of acceptable items can be found on the Recycling Electronics Page of the Kane County website.
