May 8-31 Paving Project Limits Road Access at Burnidge Forest Preserve
Road access at Burnidge Forest Preserve in Elgin will be limited, beginning May 8, to accommodate a three-week repaving and road-realignment project.
The Coombs Road entrance will be closed May 8 through May 31 while the nearby preserve parking lot is repaved, and its connection to the main roadway is adjusted and repaved to provide for better visibility. The interior road between Burnidge and Paul Wolff Campground will also be closed.
During the project, drivers may access Burnidge Forest Preserve via the Big Timber Road entrance at Paul Wolff Campground. Preserve users should park in the first lot off of Big Timber. Parking within the adjacent Paul Wolff Campground is limited to campers only.
While road access will be limited during this time, Burnidge Forest Preserve and Paul Wolff Campground will remain fully open for recreation.
Burnidge Forest Preserve/Paul Wolff Campground is located at 38W235 Big Timber Rd., Elgin.
