Montgomery Economic Development Gets National Recognition

Charlene Coulombe-Fiore, executive director of the Montgomery Economic Development Corporation, has been awarded re-certification by the International Economic Development Council, effective through Sept. 30, 2020.

Charlene Coulombe-Fiore frst achieved the Certified Economic Developer designation in 2005. CEcD recertification, is required every three years, and was awarded to Coulombe-Fiore, who met demanding requirements for continuing education and service to the profession. With 29 years of economic development experience, Charlene has a long list of accomplishments.

Assisting with several expansions in Montgomery including Fox River Foods, now Performance Foods, and the purchase and expansion of Gusto Packing and Butterball LLC was just a few of the projects and work started in Montgomery, Illinois. The new business park along Aucutt road, is now home to three brand new companies including United Sugar, Nexeo Solutions Inc. and Old Dominion Freight Line.

The designation of Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is a highly recognized national recognition that denotes a mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional attainment and a commitment to professional growth. Charlene first earned certification by passing a rigorous three part, two day examination, testing her knowledge, proficiency and judgment in the key areas of economic development.

As a highly skilled economic development practitioners, Coulombe-Fiore and more than 1,000 other Certified Economic Developers work with public officials, business leaders and community members to create and retain high quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy, and improve quality of life for the people they serve.
