Chic-A-Peas, LLC Recalls Product Because of Possible Health Risk
The Kane County Health Department is advising that Chic-a-Peas, LLC is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Chic-a -Peas Baked Crunchy Chickpeas 2 oz. packages because the product has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
No illnesses have been reported.
This announcement applies only to the Chic-a-Peas Baked Crunchy Chickpeas products listed below and does not include any other items outside the below lot codes.

Listeria monocytogenes is a pathogenic organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
