Elgin to Debut Elgin Civil War Experience June 10 and 11
The public is invited to attend the first annual Elgin Civil War Experience, taking place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 10, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 11, on the property adjacent to 600 S. State Street, Elgin.
“The city of Elgin is proud to offer a unique educational event providing an immersive look at a turbulent time in American history,” the city said in a Tuesday news release.
The Elgin Civil War Experience will feature live battle reenactments, accurate portrayals of soldier encampments, medical field operations, a Civil War era baseball game and more.
A limited amount of parking will be available on site. Attendees are encouraged to park at the Elgin Community College Parking Lot B, accessible via Spartan Drive, where shuttle service to and from the event site will be provided. Handicapped accessible parking will be available at the event site.
Advance tickets can be purchased online for $5 at cityofelgin.org/civilwar. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate for $7 each day. With proper identification, no entrance fee will be charged for veterans, active military, and currently enrolled Elgin Community College students. In addition, children under the age of 5 will not be charged.
