IDOT: Route 31 (Lake Street) in Montgomery Will Shut Down July 15 For Rail Repairs
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday (June 21, 2017) that a full closure will take place on Lake Street (Illinois 31) located north of Aucutt Road, in Montgomery, beginning, weather permitting, Saturday, July 15. The closure is necessary to make repairs to the railroad crossing.
Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Lake Street will be closed at the Burlington Junction Railway tracks north of Aucutt Road. A posted detour will direct northbound Lake Street traffic to go west on Aucutt Road, north on Orchard Road (County Highway 83), and east on Jericho Road to meet back with Lake Street. Southbound Lake Street traffic will take the reverse route.
The repairs are scheduled to be completed by 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 23, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment
