• KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.

OK, it’s not actually the Snoop Dogg, with two g’s, but it is definitely a dog (with only one g), and he’s up for adoption at KCAC.

Snoop

Snoop is an 11-year-old Miniature Pinscher that was owner-surrendered along with his 9-year-old Pug brother, Duffy. Although Snoop’s namesake is an icon in the music and entertainment industries, Snoop, the min-Pin, has all the classic characteristics of a well-bred dog with a personality to match.

He’s an extremely friendly little man with a smooth, well-groomed coat. His age is beginning to show a little in his face, but his clear eyes and alert manner make you realize that this is a boy with a purpose and that’s to find a new forever home.

Snoop is great with other dogs that are as friendly and gentle as he is, although he prefers to dominate the pack. Hanging out with whomever his people might be and going for walks so he can sniff all of the great outdoors are his most favorite things to do.

He can come across as a bit more high-strung than his low-key brother, but Snoop definitely moves to a different rap. Once he settles into his forever home and gets lots of positive attention, his anxiety level will lessen.

The staff at KCAC would love to adopt Snoop and Duffy together, bit it isn’t a requirement for adopting one or the other. Are you the one who will give this Snoop-dog all the love and caring he deserves?

Congratulations to Echo, KCAC’s own meow machine, who found her forever family. You’ll now have plenty of family members to listen to your heart-to-heart discussions.

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The usual adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
