Expand your ecology knowledge with a class on “Summer Tree Identification,” part of the Learn from the Experts program series from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Geneva Park District and St. Charles Park District.

“Summer Tree Identification” is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at Rutland Forest Preserve in Hampshire. The FP District’s resident expert will be Forest Preserve District Nature Programs Manager Valerie Blaine. Rutland Forest Preserve is located at 41W230 Big Timber Road, Hampshire.

During “Summer Tree Identification,” participants will look at the whole tree in its environment, and observe not only leaves but bark, branches, leaf, scars, buds, form, habit and habitat. Participants should bring a hands lens, if possible.
