Members of the Geneva Lions Club, Howie Pribble of Batavia, and Murray Chalmers of Geneva, were recently recognized with the club’s highest honor, a Melvin Jones Fellowship.

Established by Lions Club International in 1973, the fellowship is an honor granted to those who donate, or have donations made in their name, of $1,000 to the Lions Club International Foundation. Members of the Geneva Lions Club voted to recognize Pribble and Chalmers with this award in appreciation of their longstanding club membership, volunteerism and support.

Fellowships represent 75 percent of the foundation’s annual revenue. Millions of people around the world have benefited through more than 11,340 foundation grants, which have totaled more than $826 million.

The Geneva Lions Club works within the communities of Geneva and St. Charles to raise money primarily for the benefit of persons with sight or hearing disabilities. A large percentage of funds is also donated to local community organizations.
