Kane County Fair 2017: What’s Hot, What’s New This Year?

Get ready for one of the most anticipated events of the year: the annual Kane County Fair! The four-day fair takes place from July 20 through July 23 and includes classic attractions and new activities for people of all ages.

Many activities at the fair come free with the price of admission. One of these activities, Balster’s Sheer Magic Show, is a must-see. This will be the show’s 14th year running at the fair, but it mesmerizes audiences every time.

Of course, a fair isn’t a fair without animals. Thanks to the 4-H organization, Kane County Fair patrons will have the opportunity to meet horses, cows, goats, poultry and more and see the animals compete in various competitions.

New and Improved Events

2017 is bringing an exciting new aspect to the Kane County Fair: an interactive science-related exhibit called MindWorks. Participants will be able to explore fun activities such as puzzles, giant board games, a construction zone, and even a bubble arena.

“MindWorks will be interesting to young people and older people alike,” said Larry Breon, president of the Kane County Fair Board.

Also new this summer is a Bengal tiger show, which according to Breon has been missing from the Kane County Fair in the past couple of years. The presentation, much like the magic show, will be free with fair admission and does not require an extra fee.

Lastly, All Star Sports Instruction will provide patrons with complimentary lessons in baseball, basketball, and soccer, located inside the Prairie Events Center. The idea was first introduced in 2016, but will be expanded for this year’s fair.

Instructors will teach participants how to hit a baseball in batting cages, how to correctly kick and control a soccer ball, and more!

The Kane County Fair starts on Thursday, July 20 and runs through Sunday, July 23. It is located at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles, on Randall Road and Oak Street. For more information, sign up for email news or follow the fair’s Facebook page.
