Registration Now Open For 2017 Citizens Police Academy

Registration is now open for the fall 2017 Citizens Police Academy offered by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.

The dynamic 10-week course is free of charge and provides citizens with an opportunity to learn how policing works in their own community as well as a behind-the-scenes perspective into the many facets of law enforcement.

Sheriff's badge SMALLEach course topic is developed and led by a seasoned sheriff’s deputy. Community leaders, teachers, neighborhood watch leaders, elected officials or students pursuing a degree in criminal justice have found this course to be an excellent resource. Topics covered include traffic laws, crime prevention, identity theft, scams and fraud, patrol, investigations, corrections, gang identification and more.

Fall classes are held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from Sept. 5 through Nov. 7, 2017 Most courses take place at the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, 37W755 Illinois Route 38, St. Charles.

All Citizens Police Academy attendees must be Kane County residents, 18 years or older and successfully complete a background check.
