‘Shakespeare in the Suburbs’ Traveling Exhibition Lands in Batavia
Whether you’re a Shakespeare afficionado or just remember studying Shakespeare in school as a poetic highlight of English class, you will not want to miss the new Shakespeare Exhibit that’s landing in Batavia this July.

Water Street Studios will welcome the exhibit titled “Chicago Artists Interpret Shakespeare,” which debuted in 2012 and features nearly 50 Chicago-area artists inspired by the poetry and plays of William Shakespeare.
An opening night reception for the exhibition will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Water Street Studios, 160 S. Water St., Batavia. At the reception, you can meet the artists while enjoying live music, free food by Gaetano’s Batavia, a cash bar featuring beer from Solemn Oath Brewery and wine provided by Bright Angel wine, making for the perfect evening out for any art lover in the area.
If you cannot attend the opening, the exhibition will be on show in the Dempsey Family Gallery between the hours of 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. Fridays, and between noon and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from July 14 to Aug. 5, 2017.
If you visit Water Street Studios, make sure to take a look at the Kane County Chronicle gallery on the second floor. The gallery consists of photos taken by Christine Willett, a resident photographer at Water Street who will be showing her collection titled “Subject.”
