The public is invited to attend the city of Elgin’s newest event, Elgin Hay Day, taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Saturday, Aug. 26, at Settler’s Park, located at 3046 Sutton St., Elgin, IL 60124.

“The city of Elgin is excited to offer a new fall-themed event on Elgin’s west side,” officials said in a news release.

Settler’s Park is located in the Providence neighborhood. Elgin Hay Day will feature hayrides, a petting zoo, pony rides, potato sack races, a hay maze, and more. Local food vendors include Cook’s Ice Cream, K’s Vending, and Ruthella’s New Orleans Cuisine.

“The city wishes to give special thanks to Kenyon Brothers Farm in South Elgin for providing hay, hayrides and farm equipment,” the news release said.

Live entertainment will include:

• Make it a Double (11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) — Sharing the love of music on all frontiers from jam to newgrass, Mark Frystak (vocals/guitar) and Hayley Skreens (vocals/banjo) weld together to form Make it a Double! Inspired by the reinvention of their favorite tunes alongside heartfelt originals, they offer a sound that showcases their spirits as singers while remaining true to their acoustic roots with a strictly string instrumentation and single mic setup.
• Dance It Off with Kim (12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.) — Enjoy choreographed line dancing that is upbeat and very easy to learn. All are invited to have fun with Kim and learn a few simple steps.
• River Valley Rangers (1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.) — What began as a few friends playing songs down by the Fox River has now formed to become the bluegrass/newgrass band that is the River Valley Rangers. They have developed a high-energy string band sound that will keep you stompin’ your boots all night long! The Rangers have shared the bill with acts such as the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, the Larry Keel Experience, Hot Buttered Rum, Pert Near Sandstone, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, Henhouse Prowlers, and many more. Burning like a Midwestern prairie fire, they aren’t slowing down any time soon!
