Highland Avenue in Elgin Closed Until Aug. 18 For Bridge Repair Work

There’s a lot of roadwork going on in Elgin this week, with the highlight being the closure of Highland Avenue over Pingree Creek on the far west side. Highland will be closed through Aug. 18, and drivers are asked to follow posted detour signs. Work on the Highland Avenue bridge over Pingree Creek requires the complete closure of the bridge, the city city said. Drivers should plan extra time to accommodate detours.

Work this week includes the installation of water proofing membrane and paving work. Elsewhere, the work on Royal Boulevard over Tyler Creek requires slight traffic modifications to complete work. Prep work is taking place on the Shales Parkway bridge, and traffic delays are possible.
