Illinois Dominates List of Best Public High Schools in U.S.
Seven Illinois high schools — including one from Kane County — are among the best in the nation, according to a recently released list from a respected online school-ranking website.
According to Niche.com, seven Illinois high schools were among the top 25 in the U.S., including No. 1 rated Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago. In fact, four of the top five schools were from Illinois.
The Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy in Aurora was ranked No. 5 on the updated list.
Other schools from Illinois include:
- No. 2: Northside College Preparatory High School, Chicago
- No. 3: Adlai E. Stevenson High School, Lincolnshire
- No. 5: Illinois Mathematics & Science Academy, Aurora
- No. 6: Young Magnet High School, Chicago
- No. 20: New Trier Township High School, Winnetka
- No. 24: Hinsdale Central High School, Hinsdale
IMSA was No. 2 among 18,793 U.S. public high schools in a Niche ranking in November 2016.
The updated Niche ranking gives IMSA an A+ rating overall and an A+ grade in Academics, Teachers, Clubs & Activities, Health & Safety and Food.
