• KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.

She wrinkles her nose and a grin emerges, almost as though she’s reacting to something funny you might have said. Her eyes focus on you with a look that asks if this is the play time you promised.

Kendall

Meet Kendall, a 1-year-old female brown and white pit bull, who was found on a street in Aurora that bears her name. Happy and playful are definitely adjectives that describe her, yet she is just as content to hang out and chill with the family.

She gets excited when she meets other dogs and enjoys their company. Most times she’ll issue them a proper greeting, but if she’s really excited she may skip over the introductions and attempt to move right to the fun stuff like running around the yard and exploring her new world. Toys are fun, but she’s more than willing to share them with others.

Kendall is a real joy to have around and would be a wonderful addition to any family.

Congratulations to our girl Friday, our talkative, energetic little feline. She was adopted by a great family along with Stevie, a white & gray tabby that also came in to KCAC as a stray. We wish the both of you long life and plenty of cubbyholes to hide in.

Flash, the superhero parakeet that chirped his happiness throughout the day found his forever home. Here’s wishing you new songs to sing, Flash!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The usual adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
