Travel Channel Comes to Kane County’s ‘Food Paradise’
The Kane County Cougars, minor league affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, along with the city of Geneva will be highlighted on an upcoming episode of the Travel Channel show “Food Paradise”. Filming will take place at Northwestern Medicine Field on Thursday, Aug. 24, when the Cougars face off against the Cedar Rapids Kernels at 6:30 p.m.
“Food Paradise” travels the country looking for places that provide a one-of-a-kind dining experience. The episode featuring your Cougars will highlight the top menu items at ballparks across Minor League Baseball, including the Cougars’ very own signature burger The El Jefe along with the fan favorite Chicken and Waffle Cone.
“We’re extremely excited that the Travel Channel chose to feature the Kane County Cougars in this special ballpark episode,” said Vice President and General Manager Curtis Haug. “Both of the items that will be featured on the show have been extremely popular among our fans this season and we’re looking forward to showing off the great food that we have available.”
Served at the Glenmark Burger Cart on the home plate concourse, The El Jefe, starts with a jalapeño and Monterey Jack cheese infused burger patty topped with Ghost Pepper Jack cheese, pork belly, chipotle mac and cheese, pork carnitas, jalapeño straws and a refreshing drizzle of honey mustard sauce.
The newest item at concession stands this season is the Chicken and Waffle Cone which was submitted via an off-season social media contest on the Cougars Facebook page. Chosen as a winning submission, fans who order the item receive chicken nuggets coated in a sweet waffle batter served inside of a waffle cone with a side of maple syrup to drizzle or dunk the nuggets in.
Front office staff, fans and Cougars players will all be a part of the taping taking place during the game on August 24. Thursday’s game also features Miller Lite Thirsty Thursday specials with select beers, sodas and hot dogs available for $1.
Tickets start at $9 and fans can purchase tickets through the box office, located at Northwestern Medicine Field, or by calling 630-232-8811. Tickets can also be purchased online at kccougars.com.
