West Aurora Opens New Hill Elementary School
West Aurora School District 129 will open the new Nancy Hill Elementary School at 724 Pennsylvania Ave. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017.
The ceremony is open to the public.
On April 7, 2015, District 129 residents approved an $84.2 million referendum for school additions, geothermal heating and cooling systems and construction of a new Nancy Hill Elementary School.
The original Nancy Hill Elementary was built in 1888, which made it one of the oldest functioning school buildings in the state of Illinois.
Today (Aug. 16, 2017) is also the first day of school for students in West Aurora School District 129.
