2nd Annual Steven ‘Ched’ Chidester Celebration of Life Set For Sept. 16 in Maple Park

Family and friends will celebrate the life of Steven “Ched” Chidester Saturday in a fundraiser event for the Steven Wayne Chidester Scholarship Fund.

Chidester is the 44-year-old Kane County Division of Transportation worker who died May 19 after being struck by a Ford F250 pickup on a stretch of road in Blackberry Township. Last year, Kane County co-workers adopted a 3.8-mile segment of Harter Road, from Scott to Seavey in memory of Chidester, and this year, his name was added to the “National Work Zone Memorial — Respect And Remembrance: Reflections of Life on the Road,” which was hosted by Kane County in June.

On Saturday, light snacks will be provided during the fundraising event at Maple Park Pub & Grill, 221 Main. St., Maple Park. Food and beverages are available for purchase.

The band Jack High Straight will play from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Antwon Holloway will DJ before and after.

If you have an item you would like to donate for a raffle, please message one of the hosts: Lorraine Chidester, Christie Klapprodt, Becky Lindemann or Kelly Hornbuckle.
