FBI, Elgin Police Investigating Wednesday Bank Robbery

The Elgin Police Department is seeking the public’s help in the investigation of a Wednesday-evening bank robbery in the 1600 block of Larkin Avenue.

According to a news release posted on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page, an unknown suspect entered the bank at around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017) and demanded an amount of United States Currency. The suspect left the bank and fled with an undisclosed amount of currency.

No employees or customers who were inside the bank at the time of the robbery were injured.

The news release does not name the bank, and there is more than one bank on the block.

As is standard in all bank robberies, the case is being coordinated by the FBI officials, who are investigating the case with assistance from Elgin detectives. There is no further information at this time, and any further release of information will be done in conjunction with the FBI.
